Following the New Liao Stream upwards, you’ll encounter two tiers of waterfalls. The second tier boasts a larger scale than the first, offering different perspectives of both waterfalls. Shifen Waterfall, New Taipei City 新北 十分瀑布
Located in Pingxi and often referred to as the “Niagara Falls of Taiwan,” the Shifen Waterfall presents a magnificent sight of rushing cascades. Surrounding the waterfall are numerous viewing platforms, allowing visitors to admire it from various angles. Galaxy Cave Waterfall, New Taipei City 新北 銀河洞瀑布
Following the Galaxy Cave Mountain Trail, one can hike all the way from Xindian to Maokong. Along this secluded ancient path, you’ll pass by a small temple nestled between the mountain walls, dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. On the other side of the temple, there is also a temple dedicated to Lü Dongbin. Silk Waterfall, Taipei 台北 絹絲瀑布
The Silk Waterfall hiking trail in Yangmingshan National Park boasts rich biodiversity. It stretches approximately 2.7 kilometers from the trailhead to the Qingshan Pavilion Visitor Center, taking about 1.5 hours to complete. The air is humid, providing a refreshingly cool and comfortable atmosphere. If you prefer not to drive there yourself, you can take bus route S15 directly from JianTan or Shilin MRT stations to the “Silk Waterfall Station.” The trail difficulty is moderate, making it perfect for a leisurely outing.

Songlui Rock Waterfall, Nantou 南投 松瀧岩瀑布
The Songlui Rock Waterfall in the Shuilinxi Forest Ecological Park is acclaimed as the “First Scene of Shuilinxi.” With a majestic drop of up to 38 meters, the waterfall exudes grandeur. Stretching approximately 1.5 kilometers round trip, it takes about 1.5 hours to complete. Along the way, towering trees provide ample shade, allowing hikers to absorb phytoncides while enjoying a comfortable and refreshing hike. The Guanwu Waterfall boasts a drop of over 30 meters, creating a spectacular sight as it pours down between the mountain cliffs.
