Staying in Taroko
If you choose to stay within Taroko National Park itself is perfect if you want all that nature and beauty right on your doorstep and it’s ideal if you intend to hike and have an early start planned. It’s also great if you’re at the end of a hike and want to crash immediately without having to travel out of the park to Hualien. However, there are also downsides to staying in Taroko, as there are less options and less flexible prices, as well as nothing to do at night time other than stay in your hotel. Staying in Hualien City
Staying in the city will give you a whole heap of more options at more varied prices. You’ll also have much more to do after dark, with bars, night markets and the like across the city open until the early hours. Of course, there are cons to staying in the city rather than the park. It’s around an hour’s drive from Hualien City to Taroko National Park, so it’s probably best you stay in Hualien if you’re only planning a one-day trip to Taroko.
